CVCC Alumni Association presents to Rotary Club
Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 4:21PM Mary Reynolds, the director of the CVCC alumni association spoke at this week's meeting of the Lake Hickory Rotary club. She offered an amazing number that over 30,000 students have now received education through Catawba County Community College. Ms. Reynolds saw such a great resource in the alumni that was not being utilized. The main purpose is not to raise funds from the alumni but rather to get them engaged in coming alongside current students as mentors. The hope is that this will increase the graduation rate, keeping students engaged as they interact with those who have gone before and have gained the benefits through CVCC.
Ms. Reynolds also shared a significant development to be coming on campus. A new building to house technical training classes is under construction. Finally, she described the further efforts of CVCC to work with the public schools to enable high school students to gain technical training and college credit through CVCC classes.
