The Rotary Club of Lake Hickory recently completed a service project at Family Care Center. The club furnished and installed cabinets, bookcases and shelving to provide storage space.
“We are so thankful to have these new storage units in our conference room,” said Jane Earnest, executive director of Family Care Center. “We do not have adequate storage space for our families’ life-skills workshop materials or for the school tutoring program. These units will enable us to have a place for books, paperwork, school and craft supplies. We thank the Rotary Club of Lake Hickory for choosing Family Care Center as one of their service projects.”
Rotary Club of Lake Hickory was chartered on Feb. 21, 1973. Co-presidents for the group are Alan Jackson and Lysa Deaton-Smith. The project in support of Family Care Center was headed by Mark Sinclair, and Rotarians who took part in the project included Bill Gruman, John Leach, Alan Barnhardt, David Ridgway, Ernie Sills, Paul Caporossi, Bill Kopp, Lori Alala and Sandra Hardin.
Family Care Center, located at 2875 Highland Ave., NE, in Hickory, serves homeless families with dependent children through an emergency and transitional residential program.
