President-Elect Climbs Sydney Bridge for PolioPlus

President-Elect Ernie Sills and wife Cindy traveled to Sydney, Australia for this year's Rotary International Convention.  While there, they partcipated in the Syndey Harbor Bridge Climb, where they climbed up 1,332 steps to reach the top.  They used this event to help raise money for PolioPlus by asking all club members to donate money "per step" that would then be matched by the Bill and Malinda Gates Foundation.

At the time of the bridge climb, the club had raised $2,433.00, which will be doubled to $4,866.00 thanks to the Gates Foundation.  As you can see from the picture, Ernie and Cindy were successful in their Bridge Climb, having the opportunity to take a photo at the top of their view.

A check was presented to the club on June 24th 2014 for $2,433.00 which will be delivered to Rotary's PolioPlus efforts.

The Rotary Club of Lake Hickory wants to thank its members for their generosity, and to Ernie and Cindy for leading such an important initiative.  "We're this close" to eliminating Polio from the world, and Rotarians are leading the charge!
